Thanksgiving: The Décor-Obsessed Non-Chef’s Guide

Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays—not because of the food (although, yes, I’ll never say no to pumpkin pie) but because it’s the perfect excuse to go all in on home decor. If you’re anything like me, the joy is in creating a warm, inviting environment and pulling out an outfit that somehow matches your perfectly styled table. Cooking? Well, let’s just say I’d much rather leave that to a professional chef. A girl can dream, right?

Here’s how I make Thanksgiving magical without stressing over the turkey.

1. Décor that Sets the Mood 🕯️✨

My vibe is all about cozy sophistication. Think neutral tones with pops of rich, autumnal hues like burnt orange, deep green, and gold. I love adding candles (unscented near the dining table—thank you!) for a soft glow, plus little details like name cards, mini pumpkins, and layered linens. My centerpiece? A mix of fresh greenery and dried flowers that ties the whole look together.

2. Dress the Part (And Match the Décor) 💃

This might sound over-the-top, but I get so much joy from choosing an outfit that mirrors my Thanksgiving theme. A chic rust-toned dress or a cozy cream sweater with gold accents feels festive without being too on the nose. Bonus: I match my tablescape, so photos always turn out perfectly styled.

3. The Food (Or Lack of Cooking) 🦃

If only hiring a professional chef for the day were as easy as snapping your fingers! If I could, I’d happily sip a glass of wine while someone else whips up the feast. But in the real world, I’m not above semi-homemade shortcuts. Pre-made sides, a store-bought pie dressed up on a fancy platter, and asking guests to contribute dishes make it manageable—and still delicious.

4. A Stress-Free Plan to Enjoy the Day 🛋️

Thanksgiving is all about gratitude, so why spend the whole day frazzled? I set up the decor the night before, pick out my outfit early, and give myself plenty of time to sip coffee (or wine) and enjoy the calm before guests arrive. I also keep a backup playlist ready in case the conversation ever lulls—it’s all about setting the vibe.

So, while I may never be the one basting the turkey, I’ll happily take credit for creating a space where everyone feels at home. And honestly? That’s what Thanksgiving is all about. Here’s to dressing up, decking out the house, and maybe, just maybe, outsourcing the cooking. Cheers to a stylish holiday!

xx
